The Life Stages
Your cat goes through many stages in its life time, from kitten, to young adult, then old age. Having a kitten is like having a child and watching them grow up is very exciting!
New Born to Kitten - A new born is the earliest stage in a cats life. They are born with their eyes and ears closed for about 2 weeks and are dependent upon their mothers. At this stage, they eat, sleep and mew when they are hungry.Once they are about 4 weeks old and they are stronger they will begin to explore and get into mischief. This is when they will learn to use the litter box and begin weaning. Try to give them some soft kitten food and kitten milk that you can get a pet store. By 7 weeks they should be fully weaned and eating solid foods.
Junior Cats - This stages lasts from 6 months to 2 years. This is a time when you should pay or neuter your cat. Cats are susceptible to fighting with other cats over food and territory. Make sure you get your cat vaccinated, especially outdoor cats because they could get contagious diseases and spread them to your other cats.
( Here is a article I wrote about Feline Distemper, may not be published yet, but check it out http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/680508/s_shields.html)
Mature Cats - Ages 3 - 7 year old cats are less active. They are more prone to disease like diabetes, kidney disease and cancer, so always take your cat for it's regular check ups.
Senoir Cats - 7 to 11 years and unto death. Senior cats will sleep more then usual, probably up to 18 hours a day. They are prone to arthritis and dementia. While the last stages of your cats life, they to make your cat feel comfortable.

There is nothing sweeter than a kitten and I want one so bad but my cat, Lilly is 15, acts just like a kitten some days still and I think sometimes if 15 would put her around my Moms age, 86, who does have Alzheimers. She was puny for several years with an allergy, I have a hub how I got her over that, accidently really and I give her lots of garlic, not every day but often and she looks so good its unbelievable. Have a picture of her on couple hubs too. Shes lasting so long though she may have to move over and make room for a kitty. I saw an abandoned calico near a local grocery, if i can only catch it, but I am feeding it.
